CRUISES: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

1. Who will assist me at boarding time?

Pullmantur staff will welcome you at the port and help you expedite any paperwork or documentation necessary. Once onboard, and for the entire length of the cruise, our dedicated staff will be at your service attending to your needs.

2. When can I board the ship?

Please check with your travel agency to confirm boarding and departure times. Usually boarding time starts 4 hours before ship sails, so we recommend that passengers be at the terminal 2 to 5 hours before departure. Passengers will start enjoying their cruise from the very moment they arrive onboard.
 
3. How does embarkation process work?

To facilitate the checking-in process please arrive on-time at the assigned terminal and wait for instructions. We encourage passengers to check-in their luggage first before checking-in themselves, sometimes you can check-in your luggage with a porter even before you enter the terminal building. Luggage should be tagged with your stateroom number or with a label that will be provided, either with the cruise documents or upon passenger’s arrival at the terminal. Your luggage will later be place in your stateroom. Guests will then proceed to the check-in area. You will be given some immigration forms as required by countries, and at this time we will also take your credit card number which will be used for your onboard purchases. Debit cards are not accepted.
 
4. What kind of documents should I bring along?

Proper travel documentation and a valid passport is required at embarkation and throughout the cruise. We will visit countries where a passport may be required (children and infants included). It is the responsibility of the passenger to bring all required travel documents necessary for each port of call. Guest should check with their travel agent and/or government authority to determine the travel documents necessary for each port of call.

5. What happens with my luggage after check-in?

Our staff will deliver your luggage to your stateroom, usually 2 hours after boarding. Don’t forget to label your luggage and to take with you all your medicines, jewelry and any personal valuable items.

6. Once onboard, can I change my stateroom?

Usually this is not possible because of ship occupancy, however if you want to change staterooms it will be subject to availability and there may be a difference in fare for the new category you select.

7. How can I pay for my expenses onboard?

At boarding time, during the check-in process, we will request your credit card number which will be used to cover your expenses onboard. Please note it must be a credit card, not a debit card.

8. ¿When do I pay the service fees?

In all ships and as a general rule, the service fees are billed at the end of the cruise. To facilitate this step, these charges will be added to your final bill which can be paid in cash or with a credit card.

9. Can I bring my pet onboard?

Pets are not permitted.
 
10. What is the dress code onboard?

Most people think that you must be impeccably dressed at all times while onboard. The Gala Dinner is a special occasion so women can wear an cocktail dress or a suit, and men can wear suit and tie. You can also dress a bit more casually, however please note that bathing suits or shorts are not allowed in our dining areas after 7:00 p.m. Please bring sports wear, comfortable shoes or tennis shoes if you are planning to practice any kind of sport. We offer nightly laundry service at very reasonable prices. Please don’t forget to bring sun block or any prescribed medicine that you are currently taking.
 
11. What is your policy on cruising while pregnant?

We cannot accept guests who will have entered their 28th week of pregnancy by the beginning of, or at any time during the cruise. Pregnant women who are 28 weeks along or more must have a doctor’s permit confirming that they are in good health and fit to travel.

12. Can I bring my electric appliances onboard? How about dangerous merchandise?

The electrical current available on board is 110/220 AC. The transportation onboard of dangerous merchandise or food and drinks purchased on land before departure is prohibited. Moreover, the restrictions and rules normally used in airports are applicable onboard, except those related to liquids and/or perfumes. Dangerous merchandise or food and drinks purchased on land before departure will be kept by security and given back to the passenger after the trip ends.

13. ¿Do you have laundry facilities on board?

For your convenience, laundry and dry cleaning services are usually available onboard. For dry-cleaning services, please confirm availability for your specific cruise.

14. ¿When and where can I eat onboard?

Please check our dining schedules onboard. Our restaurants are opened from 7:00 am to midnight.

15. ¿What about gratuities and service charges onboard?

For information on gratuities and service charges, please review our Pullmantur brochure. Gratuities and service charges will be billed to your credit card as an additional expense onboard.

16. ¿What happens if I get sick onboard?

For your additional protection, all of our Pullmantur cruises include a travel insurance plan that’s included in the cruise price. This insurance plan guarantees emergency assistance on land and in some cases, repatriation and expenses of travel companion, with the purchase of an additional supplement when making the reservation.

Please ask your travel agent about the specific conditions that are covered and the additional insurance supplements available. Medical assistance onboard is available at an extra fee. Special medical needs will be considered but must be indicated when making the reservation. Additional fees may apply.

You will always find a resident doctor and medical staff onboard that will be happy to assist you during their regular daily office hours or anytime if it’s an emergency. Please check our medical facility schedule onboard. Our medical facility is equipped with the most frequently-used medicines, clinical supplies and limited surgery equipment for emergencies. Medical services are not included in the cruise price, but remember that your cruise includes a medical care insurance plan.

17. ¿What are your smoking regulations?

For the comfort of all of our guests cigarette smoking is allowed in passenger staterooms, balconies and designated public areas.

18. ¿What are the restrictions for the consumption of alcohol?

No restrictions, except when alcoholic beverages are purchased in ports of call, these will be stored and delivered to guests on the last day of sailing. Guests who demonstrate irresponsible behavior may be disembarked. We reserve the right to revoke or restrict drinking privileges of any guest.

19. ¿What kind of games of chance you have onboard?

We have a casino onboard with slot machines, Black Jack and roulette. Guests 18 years old or younger are not allowed in the casino.

20. ¿What do I need to do with my luggage the night prior to disembarkment?

Your luggage should be packed and placed outside your stateroom door by 3:00 a.m., to facilitate customs clearance and disembarkation. You will receive your luggage after Immigration process or at the port terminal. In some cases, luggage will be transported directly to the airport. You will then need to pick up your luggage at the end of your scheduled flight with Pullmantur. For more information regarding luggage handling and service, we recommend that you check with your travel agent and read the luggage handling instructions provided onboard. You will receive colored tags for each piece of luggage. These tags will be given to you with the cruise documents, at check-in or anytime onboard. Please put the tags on all luggage. Carry-on bags will be taken personally to the Terminal.

21. ¿Can I be reached at sea?

Yes, we will provide you with a telephone number that you can give to your friends and relatives so they can call you anytime at sea. You will find this number in the documents located inside your stateroom.

22. ¿Are there any shops onboard? 

There are beautiful shops and boutiques onboard featuring a great variety of items from the most prestigious international brands. 

23. ¿Do you have activities for kids?

Kids are always welcome onboard and for them we have created an exciting program with an array of fun-filled activities. Our Kangaroo Club (ages 3 and up) offers a varied program of activities and services (check our activity schedule onboard). We also offer special entertainment areas with recreational machines and games. Plus, we offer babysitting services (not included). For your children’s safety and comfort, we limit the number of children participating on each ship. 

24. Do you offer accommodations for handicapped individuals?

For safety reasons onboard, we limit the number of handicapped guests. All handicapped guests must travel with a companion. Please let us know of your physical disability when making your reservation.
